there are many tool to convert them
generally the editor that allows you to edit it, gives the possibility to get 2d screenshots of the 3d image, otherwise press the "print / prtscr" key on your keyboard and than ctrl+v on a blank ms paint
it will give you a copy of the image you have on screen

Generally I think that you need to take a screenshot of the image 3D, whatever format it is...(for me the simplest way)
I use a program from Macromedia, Captivate.
With it i can take a simple screenshoot or an entire video of all i make on the screen... Very very great!!!
